News flash: You may now access the Club website at www.ve3rib.ca.
The Bass Classic radio assistance was a success. VE3ENL worked the tent (with a little help Friday from VE3LKP Lucas). Jeff VE3JTD worked the Marmion Lake landing on Friday, while Margaret VE3OWL worked it Saturday. Vic VE3AKX organized our contribution and donated radio equipment for both sites. We also premiered our new AARC banner at the weigh-in tent.
Erik VE3ENL, has custody of the VA3EOA HF equipment for the next month or so. Erik will setup the station at his house, and learn the operation of the radio. The plan is that he will teach club members how to operate the radio and antenna tuner, then we will return it to the EOC permanently.
Summer storm season is here, and the Atikokan Amateur Radio Club is part of the Environment Canada Canwarn system. When severe weather threatens Atikokan, a net will be established on the VE3RIB repeater, where storm spotters will be asked to report-in on their observations. This information will be forwarded to Environment Canada by the net controller. For a review of net practices, and severe weather identification (especially if you missed the training this week), visit their webpage and check-out the 'training' tab.
